Hey Wave, You have brought this topic up before, where hedgefunds don't have the capability to influence the SP. However, i get confused when reading your posts becuase, for instance, in the last post you made you said "Blackberry has been the victim of an orchestrated short campign aimed at driving the company out of business." That seems to contradict your inititial statement, no?
From my understanding, the short does not have effects on the share price because they are doing a nuetral action relative to real time SP. Over a spanse of time, the short position may give the appearance it is a less than stellar investment because of the mass amount of people believing the company will fail, from my understanding this is the negative effect on SP in shorting.
As well, I find it odd that %30 of BB is shorted. If not all 30% is bought on margin accounts or loaned out, is this not what naked shorting is? And aswell, I know funds and brokerages can lend out shares they own to be shorted to gain interest income in the mean time. I wouldn't be opposed to earning a few points on my long held shares!
