RE: RE: Nugget Effect

RE: RE: Nugget Effect

I am no geologist either but I have read some about the nugget effect. Just as Jumanji said, a few nuggets in a drill core can skew the average grade to the upside. There are different ways of preventing that. One is to drill tightly spaced holes and the other is to cap the grade of your samples at 30 g/t or 100 g/t or whatever is appropriate. CSI may not need to cap the grades as they are drilling holes 5-10 meters apart. The more holes you drill in an area the more accurate your picture is of your grade. Also, the bulk sampling is one way of estimating grade more accurately. This is most commonly done on a variable grade deposit which is another way of saying nuggetty.
