Blackberry Collusion - Terrorists Perfectly timed, perfectly executed. It's no coincidence that a negatively slanted survey is published simultaneously with the release of so-called analysts' reports. You know, the ones purporting to have done thorough channel checks and person-on-the street interviews to draw one-sided, biased and illogical conclusions to suit a prescribed agenda. The bear raid (appearance that shareholders were selling out) was no accident either.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but, these journalists/bloggers coupled with the analysts, insult the readers' intelligence. Do they really believe that most people swallow their story? I applaud Blackberry Mgmt for not chasing and responding to every giggly-goo rumour. They replied professionally via a news release stating the information was absolutely false and misleading. Mgmt has better things to do right now than to run after the children. I put BNN and CNBC into this basket as well. How dare they pass off opinions written in blogs plus biased analysts' reports as their news headlines. This is not journalism. True journalism should and does report confirmed facts, both sides, that they gather on their own, with the purpose of allowing the reader the make a decision.
However, children's whispers, rumours and lies can damage the reputation of the brand. This could be the longer term impact of these tactics. Negative sentiment can spread faster than positive by word of mouth and then exaggerated repeatedly. "Ya know what I heard on BNN today......I heard about the returns and the number of people who wouldn't buy one and it's not user friendly and the maps and the apps and the......"
Sales are lost one by one just as they are gained. These folks are not shorters, they are terrorists.
