Cobalt, do you not remember the '90s when the NDP killed the massive Windy Craggy project which in turn caused the exodus of most mining companies from BC for years to come? After that, exploration expenditures in the province dropped below $40 million per year. We are STILL paying for that fiasco because we haven't had a NEW metal mine permitted since Eskay Creek (discovered around 1989-90) which is already mined out and shut down - there weren't any permits because there hadn't been any discoveries because there hadn't been adequate exploration. Any recent permits have been re-openings of old mines (e.g. Cu Mountain) or construction of mines discovered in the 80s or earlier (e.g. Mt. Milligan, Red Chris). To instill any confidence, there will have to be a mine permitted early on by the NDP, something like Taseko's Prosperity, or maybe New Gold's Blackwater.
