The Santa Elena Silver/Gold Mine is located over 150 km northeast of the city of Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. The La Encantada Silver Mine is an underground mine located in the northern Mexico State of Coahuila, 708 km northeast of Torreon.

"In a newsletter published this week, Camimex asserted that Mexican mining companies already pay 40% in taxes and duties, including a 10% profit share to employees. According to the mining Chamber, only two mining countries mandate profit sharing to employees.

Camimex noted that Mexico now ranks fourth globally in attracting mining exploration dollars, “resulting in a significant economic flow essential for national growth.”

Jose Martinez Gomez, president of the Mexican association of mining engineers, metallurgists and geologists, told the newspaper El Siglo de Torreon that the mining sector would be willing to pay a 3% royalty on profits if the government deducts money already spent by mining companies to support local communities."
