Ecuador takes steps to reform regulations for conc

Looks like the earliest that the revised mining law could be introduced to parliament is the end of June.

 

On the bright side, it looks like they’re actually planning on following through with the changes…. Better late than never, I suppose.

 

“The Ecuadorean government has invited local law firm Andrade Veloz & Asociados to present an offer to reform an article from the country's mining law.

 

"The mining law has shown several weaknesses and gaps that should be covered and reformed so that Ecuador has an appropriate, fair and clear mining regulatory framework," the bidding rules say.

 

The article to be rewritten regulates the transfer and/or expiry of mining concessions, including the clarification of what happens to goods and accessories pertaining to the concession if it expires.

 

The budget for the job is US$39,200 and the timeframe is 60 days from awarding the contract, scheduled for April 23.”
