RE: Net-net result of irradiation I believe it has been discussed in the past but it sure does appear that getting GMP was about two things. If an Econiche subsidy/mandate didn't come along, it would provide a 'convenient excuse' in having the VMC starting to earn its keep. It gave McRae breathing room and several more months of continued negotiation with the Feds.
But as you have pointed out rhdmd, the clock is ticking. I recall McRae commenting that he didn't want to put the cart before the horse as far as lining up business for the facility until GMP was attained - which makes sense given the way governments and certification work and the fact that the date has been pushed back a few months already. I certainly don't see the VMC going from 0 to even 20% of manufacturing capacity for several months to come.
Which then leads to the million dollar questions - 'What kind of contract production/usage is needed for this facility to, AT LEAST, cover its costs and stop the burn and when will that occur'?
