RE: RE: What's possible? Thanks fairchij,
After blowing off steam this weekend and giving myself a chance to settle a bit I've thought of other possibilities besides the one I mentioned in that earlier post. What I try to do is think of the most reasonable possibility, which is almost always the simplest, i.e., not a conspiracy. One of the possibilities I'm really starting to gravitate towards is that OPEL wants the speed of the n-type transistors closer to 100's before they let the lid blow off.
The increase has risen from 38 Ghz since BAE was announced as our partner, to 42 Ghz today. Perhaps they want to get this new equipment up and running so they can shrink features to get closer to the 300-350 Ghz they estimated in the last NR (which incidentally has risen from the prediction of 260GHz cutoff given in the Laser MS announcement from December) for the test chip they plan to share with interested parties.
So like you post suggested fairchij, timing is most likely a key factor influencing their decision to stay small or go big with PR. And I'm guessing it has to do with producing the best functioning transistors possible to blow the minds of potential buyers. Thinking of it this way I feel it is worth potentially 100's of millions to OPEL to delay the production of test chips.
Obviously I can't substantiate this without info, but it seems a plausible reason to delay.
