RE: Nobody interested by XONE?

Hello ramuntcho

I am very interested in the technology.  I am always a bit leery of the mystique runup in a new tech (look at Ballard Power Systems), but I will say that 3d printing companies are profitable already.  I am a bit sour on DDD, as they are heavily into plastics and novelty printers for the home.  Prototyping and and orthodontic/medical work is interesting, but I just don't know how far they can go to replace injection molding plastics.

XONE on the other hand is focused on complex metal printing for industrial customers.  As the technology improves and price comes down, I can see the day when the auto parts shop will just keep scans of the parts and print on demand.  This will have an impact on manufacturing, I'm sure.  What I don't know is how fast and whether xone will maintain a leadership role.

Lots of cutting edge high tech companies were leaders and then crashed: Nortel, RIM, early internet providers, Ballard as mentioned, ...
