Traderette, yeah - pretty sure that BIS/BES controls what type of access work BBs are given. Like I said, where I work, definitely no...but I work for a company that is dead serious about security / privacy. BBM usage could create issues where non-employees could communicate and receive info via BBM that would put us at risk.
