RE: RE: Misc
Interesting results analysis and AGM presentation. Hopefully 'temporary' factors will not impact longer term, although in my opinion there may longer term implications of what's happening in Quebec via a vis market pricing and not sure the temporary shifts in Canadian retail buying patterns can be guaranteed to come back fully. Am struggling with closing manufacturing at plants in Canada (plant optimization) and presumably layoffs when there is a strategy to grow building products in the US. Does this mean manufacturing is shifting to the US or is there overcapacity in remaining plants in Canada to grow the US market. At the same time using resources which could have been used to invest in Canadian manufacturing (new products, horizontal integration) to buy a company in rural Italy, probably the third most struggling economy in Western Europe next to Spain and Greece with social unrest, potential tax increases, austerity, poor customer credit environment just doesn't make sense. #tunnel vision. I hope an increase in travel budget has been baked into forecasts; Mumbai, Madrid, Italy, California, Arkansas. Note 2012, lower US revenue over 2011 @ 11.6%, international sales lower 2.8% (as per AGM presentations).
