RE: BCSC Response Thank you for contacting the British Columbia Securities Commission (BCSC) again.
Although many investors have requested staff at the BCSC to comment on the current Barkerville Gold Mines Ltd. (Barkerville) cease trade order, this would be against BCSC policy. Staff do not comment on reviews and investigations in order to protect the integrity of the review and investigation process, and maintain fairness to those who may be the subject of a review that does not result in a sanction or further action.
The cease trade order for Barkerville will not be revoked until the BCSC has received the 43-101 Technical Report in good order, this is the only comment that staff at the BCSC are in the position to make. The BCSC is committed to ensuring all reviews are completed in a timely manner. Staff at the BCSC are not in the position to comment on any ongoing dialogue between Staff and Barkerville.
Although you may be frustrated, we are committed to instilling confidence in the public by ensuring that all 43-101 Technical Reports filed by issuers in British Columbia are filed in compliance with the Securities Act. Although you may not perceive this as establishing "public confidence" or "maximizing transparency"; ensuring adequate and accurate disclosure by issuers based in British Columbia is a principal role of the BCSC.
Attached you will find the news release issued by Barkerville on May 10, 2013. You will note that the BCSC provided comments to Barkerville on May 9, 2013 regarding the 43-101 Technical Report that was filed. We suggest you contact Barkerville directly if you would like additional information regarding the BCSC comments.
