I've been in other stocks that owned stock in an affiliated company and they had to pay income tax on the appreciation in the value of the company. It's happened to me more than once. Were they just unusual cimcumstances? I understand that the balance sheet for FMS would look great if Grafoid mv was 1 billion, but stocks never sell at book value. If you don't believe that, take a look at SMD, Strategic Metals. Book value close to $1 and it's at .48.
