Vin's OWC observation
Vin's OWC observation All; Vin mailed to point out that B-1 at the Top Oligocene is below K-3 TD. I replied to him accordingly...
'vin; Good spot and you are correct of course assuming the schematics are accurate. The topographic map of the Top Oligocene ( TO - the reservoir in question on Pg 12 in the recent presentation ) of K-3 is around 1900m ss. The reservoir at K-3 is approx. 400m deep and that would place K-3 TD at 2300m ss approx. Baram-1 TO is around the 2475m subsea contour and it is therefore about 150 - 175m deeper. This means of course if there is ANY OWC found at K-3 this would probably means that Baram is 'underwater' ( assumes that Baram is connected to Kurdamir ). The does not change the analysis it just simplifies it. We should hope for no OWC. I'll post up your observation and the correction that it indicates. Thanks.'
Baram of course may not be connected to Kurdamir and could have a separate OWC. But it would make a decision to drill Baram-1 a great deal more risky if an OWC is found in K-3. We would then be absolutely reliant on Baram being a separate field.
Thanks again to vin.
