What about paper money?... I don't see how you came to leap to paper money from gold... there is no connection between the two now-a-days.

Gold hasn't been the dominant form of money since the gold standard died. Governments don't need to have gold onhand to back their currencies, so in essence 100% of the gold sold/traded for anything other than electronics or jewlery could vanish in a heatbeat because there is no "manditory demand" for it to back ANY currency.

I really wonder if you understand what you are invested in.
