Someone let the children out I think some of you need to take a look in the mirror and realize how childish you're acting. As one of the few actual adults here, I'll point out what every rational person already knows: schoolyard taunts along the lines of "my stock is better than yours" actually only betrays your own insecurity. I feel very secure in my own investments, which is why I don't feel the need to bash other stocks on other forums.
I own a number of stocks. I also have a lot of non-stock wealth. Every time I buy a stock I know that there is risk that either a) the stock goes down or b) the stock goes up, but more slowly than I would like. Any reasonably conservative investor has a sufficient degree of diversification that the activity of one particular stock is not especially relevant to their overall portfolio value. Any reasonable investor also knows that junior mining stocks are subject to intense volatility - it is to be expected and if people can't handle that they shouldn't invest in juniors.
That said, everyone with at least a double-digit IQ knows that when a JV is announced, speculators who were hoping for a buyout leave the stock. For those of us who are intersted in a longer-term investment, the associated decrease is stock price is actually good, because it allows for the opportunity to pick up more shares at a lower price if so desired.
While some people (you can identify them by finding the posts that read like they were written by 5 year old boys) think that no reasonable investor could have a positive long view of WPX, I only have to say this: China Blue disagrees. Who do you think has more credibility? China Blue, or a bunch of mentally stunted rubes on a stock forum?
I generally do not ignore people on this board (because sometime even the posts of stupid people are worth reading if they contain a news link), but what's been happening lately is downright spam and it makes it diffuclt to find real posts that are written seriously and offer a modicum of value.
I'll finish off just by reiterating: everytime you bash a stock, it reveals to the world that you are an insecure investor who probably shouldn't own stocks, and it negatively affects your credibility. Bye bye, kids.
