My guess is that the institutions that actually control the bigger number of votes are happier with the known devil than the unknown one.  I don't think there was a clear right decision here, but you have to give Gant et al the benefit of the doubt for what they have done so far with the reit.  Both sides were spinning it pretty good.  

Maybe the best thing out of this is the level of awareness has gone a lot higher amongst the unitholders and that many eyes will be on their every move.  It was very disconcerting to hear of potential non arms lengths transactions being proposed by Gant and co. probably to the detriment of Partners.   At the first sign of some of those transactions I know my position will be sold.  

In the meantime it is a helluva good yield and if they can keep the momentum going then it should only get better. 

You might think that a reit like Crosby which is expanding west with Sobeys acquistion of Thrifty Foods might be interested in a Partners?  I am not interested in that yet but down the road that might be a good play and in the meantime we collect a sweet yield.

Its not all bad.
