RE: RE: Drop has nothing to do with dividend Cimeco. I don't think they would have to much trouble building a refinery in Alberta and shipping the gas via rail cars. In many ways Parkland benefits from landlocked oil as they get a discount.
Here is my theory on why a small refinery would be a good investment
Remember before the great crash the price for gas in Victoria, BC (where I live) was $1.50 a liter. At that point it was $150 for a barrel of oil.
Now the price per litre is $1.35 in Victoria and yet a barrel of oil is what $95?!?! So the price per liter drops 10% when the price per barrel drops 37%. So who is making all this extra money. That is why they call this the golden age of refining.
Here Co-op gas stations which are supplied by Parkland are stripping market share from everybody else. Massive line ups to get gas all the time. Big reason why I desided to invest in Parkland.
