“And out of the transformation process comes the manufacture of pristine bilayer and trilayer graphene. We are now proving our economically scalable mass production process.
The key, cost-mitigating element is the source. Focus Metal’s graphite. Graphite, grading at 16% is a
super concentrate deposit (>15%). Additionally, the SEM image indicates that the deposit is also
highly ordered graphite. These two vital components allowed our investment to create a novel chemical exfoliation and transformation process removing the need for strong acids and strong oxidants. The result is a scalable approach for a high quality graphene that maintains its highly conductive properties”.

“Graphene building blocks derived from super-concentrate deposits (any deposit with greater than 15% graphite) can be used to create affordable constructs for a variety of uses in carbon based nanostructures, lithium ion batteries included. Focus Metals holds such a deposit.
Additionally, the highly ordered layers in the structure of our graphite is another advantage analogous to highly ordered pyrolytic graphite (h.o.p.g.)”.
The multiple melt, metamorphic episodes that have changed the initial sedimentary structure of the Lac Knife ore, to give a structure with similarities to HOPG. Our product is therefore pretty unique and advantageous in electrochemical terms to regular flake.
Good info on HOPG here:

It is the perfect material for the next generation of doped or coated anodes seeking faster charging batteries, that deteriorate more slowly. Some still wonder why we have such a firm relationship with Hydro-Quebec, to me it is obvious from the potential of Lac Knife’s Graphite and as a consequence of that unique structure, an ability to produce a scalable graphene process to high quality, high-energy graphene.
If Grafoid is a success and the HOPG structure of Graphite at Lac Knife is a vital component of the exfoliation process, then long term I expect Grafoid to be one of Focus Graphite's very best customers.
I think I’ll hunker down on this one. As I’ve said before I’m not fooled the fundmentals here are very clear imo.
