We will have to wait for more details. I also wonder if somehow the placebo group ended up being more localized and not distributed across all sites. Only in hindsight in a double-blind study will we find out.

So maybe a disproportionate number of placebo patients came from 3 centres and they made huge lifestyle changes. Perhaps the drug group disproportionately came from areas less inclined to alter their diet, ate bacon and eggs everyday and skewed the results.
