Shell & Imperial - where are you?

Some of you have wondered why Shell seems to be sitting on their lands.     Their inactivity is puzzling especially since I have confirmed that both Imperial and Shell have failed to even pursue Access and Benefit agreements with the local communities.    Those A&B agreements are a prerequisite for any drilling program in the Sahtu.    There is one possible explanation:   Shell and Imperial were both outbid for the sweet spots in the Canol by Husky and COP.      So maybe they have no intention to drill on the margins until the sweet spots have been de-risked.      I personally don’t  buy Imperial’s explanation that they don’t want to stretch the limited infrastructure  of the Sahtu.      I bet that if they had been more successful in the bidding process they’d be fighting tooth and nail for access!!!
