Just another quiet day for the beach and gold mining...Satefy update 16 August 2013: Despite the violence during the last few days in Cairo and some large cities there have been no reports of any clashes or protests in the Marsa Alam area.

There is no major town close to Marsa Alam.  Cairo is eight hours by car from Marsa Alam. Alexandria is ten hours. The tiny town of Marsa Alam and the surrounding area is situated in a very remote and quiet part of Egypt.  It is still very safe and people are enjoying their holiday and being very warmly welcomed. The British Foreign Office detailed advice regarding travel was updated this week but it is not advising against travel to the Marsa Alam area.
