Question on halts...

Question on halts...Just a question for some of the older's investor... i had in mind that any material disclose of information within market hours was coming with a stock halt... and most of the time, it's necessary cause the cie are getting their financial information out of market hours...

IIROC's own definition is:
A stock is generally halted pending the release of material news that may affect the price of a stock. A trading halt allows the market to digest this information and also creates a level playing field among investors

Shouldn't financial information like Financial statements always be considered as material ?
Just some pointers would help cause it's the first time i see FS disclose in the middle of a session on a stock i own w/o a halt..

thx
white
