RE:China for a partner for bb for me! A new shopping complex in Shanghai’s Putuo district has drawn
500,000 visitors since it opened three days ago, bringing the
area’s traffic to a standstill. On the day it opened, 100 senior
officials from various cities visited the complex, Guangzhou’s
21 Century Business Herald reported. The complex is said to be
the biggest in any city in China, and reflects Shanghai’s bid
to market itself as the shopping center of the world.
Local government figures show residents of Shanghai spent 388.77
billion yuan (US$63 billion) in the retail sector during the
first half of this year, up 9.1% from the same period last year.
The city hopes that by 2015 consumers will be spending 1.1
trillion yuan (US$179 billion) in the retail sector.
Shanghai’s modernization efforts have been detailed in the
central government’s 12th five-year plan, which runs to 2015,
and the city plans to build service conglomerates in 25 areas. a great partner for BB!
