In Good Hands with Rodney Irwin
In Good Hands with Rodney Irwin During these times of critical negotiations with the Kyrgyz Republic, it is good to have a diplomat with the accreditation that Mr Irwin has. I think he has a good understanding of not only the Kyrgs but with the opposing forces in this negotiation:
Rodney Irwin, MA Chairman of the Board Honorary Consul of the Kyrgyz Republic for Canada.
- 1972-74: joined Department of External Affairs, Ottawa
- 1978-1980: served abroad in New-Delhi, Moscow & Port of Spain
- 1988-1990: High Commissioner
- 1992: named Ambassador to Yugoslavia; due to the war with Croatia,
served as Ambassador to Albania, Bulgaria, Slovenia & Croatia - 1993-96: Ambassador to Hungary while retaining his Balkan country accreditations
- 1999-2003: Ambassador to the Russian Federation with concurrent
accreditation to the Republics of Armenia & Uzbekistan - 2003: retired to Ottawa after 32 years in the foreign service
I'm looking forward to some positive results as we move forward in the next few months, especially with the Centerra deal.
