RE: China’s Job Cuts at Steel Town:Good for high grade iron ore

As the industry expands, the state is taking out the scalpel. The five-year plan through 2015 orders the shutdown of blast furnaces smaller than 400 cubic meters (14,000 cubic feet). Steelmakers are also required to cut carbon dioxide emissions and energy use by 18 percent and to consolidate the top 10 producers.

On the surface this looks good for Alderon and it's "high quality " ore, however that quality is accompanied by 2% manganese.
So what ? The presence of manganese increases the energy required. More coke is required if manganese is present in the feed. More coke = more energy= more co2. I am not an expert in such matters so how can I say that. I was at local  symposium last spring where a very experienced grey haired gentleman was brought in to talk to us about blast furnace operation. I got that info straight from him in a one on one conversation. He was not optimistic about selling of ore with 2% mn. Please see my previous posts .
