It isn't the size of the prize, but the strategic positioning of their assets. And a potential 3TCF isn't all that small, either.

Well no, they cannot. PPY already turned down the terms when the tender came out.

Agree with most of your post, but just thought I would clarify those two points.
As far as the trading in PPY letting us know when a deal is coming, that may not happen. We have seen several examples where there was no buying at all just before the buyout came.

So you simply never know.
