RE:Failed summer road construction blamed for project delays

RE:Failed summer road construction blamed for project delaysI think they tried to use shale instead of gravel because there was no gravel pits in the vicinity.  If the shale had a high clay content then it would have turned to mushy clay when put into Swamp.  Note that the Canol shale has a very low clay content so they must have used a different shale formation which outcrops there.

The usual procedure is to clear and lay down geotextile in the winter.  You then lay down gravel to prevent the permafrost from melting.  In the summer you surface the road with finer aggregate.  Sounds like the base failed.

They should still be able to drill the two verticals this winter instead of the fall once the swamp freezes.  I think the horizontals are what will be signifantly delayed as you need the all weather road for long term testing.

The he october update will be interesting.
