RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Interesting trading

RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Interesting tradingI totally agrre with everything you say, but we seem to have drifted off topic.  The discussion started, I believe, in speculation as to the unusual volume and jump in pps.  A number of theories have been presented, one of which may be the case, but I personally have know idea which.

My interest is purely academic.  I do not have a position here and, most likely, never will.  But, maybe there is something to be learned for future reference.  The possibilities seem to be:

1.  Inexperienced investors, or simply stupid experienced investors, who see an opportunity where none exists.

2.  People who know something about a future event that the general public does not.

3.  Someone manipulating the pps because of an upcoming private placement.

None of these theories hold water, IMO.  #1 would require people with more money than sense, which is clearly possible.  But what is the reason for showing up now, without somebody pumping it?  #2 would have to be people trading on inside information, a dangerous practice.  (Oh, I forgot, this is Canada and the OSC has no teeth.)  #3 makes even less sense, as it would cost some dollars and then the company would have to get investors to buy into a pp at an inflated price.  If news was released just before the pp, then this would fall under # 2 again.

Any other scenarios?

Piper
