New Candidate #1 - Yvon Bastien
Yvon Bastien is Chairman of Board at Trillium Health Care Products Inc. This is a private company located in Brockville, Ont (near Belleville) that does contract manufacturing. Its majority owner is Richardson Capital, bought in 2005. It was founded by Grant Lawson and David Trick in 1993. Their website is www.trilliumhcp.com From their website: "Trillium Health Care Products has a history of acquiring underutilized facilities in the Personal Care and Health Care industries and improving the performance in these facilities through a combination of volume growth, captial investment in both equipment and systems and the implementation of world class manufacturing practices." They bought the Jergens factory in Perth in 1993. Then they bought the Warner Lambert factory in Brockville. In 2003 they bought Procter & Gamble's Ivorydale factory in Cincinati. "Our visison is to be recognized as the leading North American Contract Manufacturer serving targeted segments of the Health Care and Personal Care markets ..." From 1995 to 2005, Bastien was CEO of Sanofi-SyntheLabo (Sanofi-Aventis' Canadian subidiary). He attended medical school in Belgium. His company focused on four areas: oncology, cardio, internal medicin and nervous system disorders. Bottom line: I think he is a candidate for the Board of Bioniche for his insight into what could be done with the VMC. His company may even be a buyer of the VMC. He sounds like a good addition to the Board. Is he a friend of Graeme? Maybe. They could sail together. He is an outdoors person. Their head offices are close together.
