Another source (with a little more details)Allana Potash signs deal with Ministry of Mines (Oct 09, 2013) Allana Potash, a Canadian Company engaged in mineral exploration, signed a deal with Ministry of Mines on Tuesday (October 8). Under the agreement Alana Potash will be continue to conduct further massive exploration works in Dalol in the Afar region. Allana will carry out exploration and production of potash for 20 years over an area of 310 square kilometers. The company expects to produce 27 million tons of potash during this period, and it aims to start export in two years. Overall, the project is expected to create jobs for eight hundred Ethiopians. The company has been carrying out research and feasibility studies in Dalol for the last five years. A representative of the company noted that Ethiopia was rich in potash resources and the current investment regime was helpful for exploitation of the resources. Ambassador David Asher, Canada’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, said “the agreement is part of the effort to take the trade relations of the two countries in to higher level”
