RE:RE:Articles like this having negative impact.
They also need to get the message out there to the general public. When a newspaper like the Star  Tribune prints a misleading and biased article like that one, and is read by a general public that does not know a lot about mining and the regulations that mines must operate under, it does a lot of damage. Fear mongering is a tool that the environmentalists have become experts at using and the only way to counter it is head on with truth and facts that will dispell the bias and junk science. I am not sure that the balanced information your link provides made the Star tribune and the news in general. they need to do more than just make sure the governor is informed. They need to make sure the people are informed through the media and this includes local news papers as well and national agencies like Reuters and Bloomberg. The governor after all is a politician and popular opinion has a large impact on what most politicians do. The key is not to get into a war of words but to ensure the facts are out there for all to see.
