RE:RE:RE:Why Shoal Pointyknorth - Your arguements have no basis. Oil has been here since the 80's and 90's with the start of the Hibernia project. Crude answers your question on hiring locally. My point was on if the province or the public needed the government bad enough.
stateside - Environmentalist? Really? Have you even looked at my profile or past comments. I have invested in pit mines for pete's sake. Get real.
Crude - You are the only one with a valid point. Glad to see another Newfoundlander active on the boards. You are right that the west coast hasn't seen alot of prosperity here on the Avalon. But I do not think that will me motivation enough to get this project moving. I don't think the nay sayers have been influenced by environmentalist. You should know that we have a culture that is based on living off the environment. Did the power line nazies stop the high voltage transmision line as well? No. That was a proposal by a government owned entity and the governement could not even get it passed because of the public outcry. Fracking is a lot different then obscure health effects of high voltage lines and cutting down a few trees. If they couldn't put up a few telephone poles they are not going to approve a method of drilling oil which has mounting evidence of negative and sometimes unclear environmental effects. That's my honest opinion. I mean fracking has been proven to cause minor earthquakes in the UK and I just don't think that they are going to let it take place in a UNESCO site that has one of the only areas in the world that has exposed tectonic plates??? I'm not saying you are wrong. There may be environmental politics at play but this bull board should contain at least some sort of balanced view. I mean has it even been brought up before about the park or the failed high voltage line? That is a significant factor to consider before investing!
