Here is the story from my broker who advised last week to avoid junior commodity and biotech.
"Hedgefunds are focussed to protect there year end results and therefore are shorting junior commodities stocks and biotechs (speculatives)."  Obviously, there are others impacted as well.

Itsy bit worry on US growth story... however not much data so trend will create a bottom sometime  middle of next week and then drift higher for year end. Massive run up is expected after Jan'14 US data so expect soaring commodities if US data stays at par.
