Canada Carbon seeks to identify Stockhouse posters

2013-11-06 13:25 ET - Street Wire

by Mike Caswell

Canada Carbon Inc. has filed three petitions in the Supreme Court of British Columbia looking to identify Stockhouse posters who called the company a pump-and-dump and referred to management as "crooks." The company is asking the courts to order Stockhouse to turn over IP addresses and any other information that could identify the posters. The petitions identify the users as "doobyus"; "Jinbag"; and "2guys."

The petitions, filed at the Vancouver courthouse on Nov. 1, 2013, complain about messages that appeared in the Stockhouse forums between Sept. 19, 2013, and Oct. 17, 2013. According to Canada Carbon, the posts implied that the company was poorly managed, was intentionally manipulating its stock price and was worthless. The posts also meant that Canada Carbon's CEO, Bruce Duncan, was dishonest and not trustworthy, the company claims. Attachments to the petitions quote the messages in full.

One post, by 2guys, also implied that Canada Carbon was a scam to defraud investors, the company says. The post, dated Sept. 27, 2013, read: "Oh the humanity! these guys are pump and dump artists at best. All Duncan has done since taking over several years back is to hire his wife to do the books and make sure they both get fat paychecks." The post explained that Mr. Duncan had done little to advance the company's projects and had rolled the stock back 1:10. "That's right just keep issuing paper to keep paying his salary, and roll back every time you get way over 100 million shares outstanding," the post read.
