FYI - Utah Kennecott Mine is back in operation! Brent Johnson discovered lots of great knowledge about mining operations in Utah when he visited with me back in March, 2010, June, 2010, June, 2011 and thereafter.
In addition to producing about 300,000 tons of copper a year, the Bingham Canyon Mine also produces approximately 400,000 ounces of gold; 4 million ounces of silver; 30 million pounds of molybdenum; and 1 million tons of sulfuric acid annually.

They’re “on the road again” in Bingham Canyon Mine……………
The Bingham Canyon Mine is one of the largest open-pit mines in the world, measuring more than 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) wide and 1,200 meters (3,900 feet) deep. Located about 30 kilometers (18 miles) southwest of Salt Lake City, Utah, the mine is a major producer of copper, gold, silver, and molybednum.
