RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:PVG / Strathcona / SnowdenHalcro,
A lot of opinioin and hand waving IMO.
No doubt a complex nuggety deposit that will be hard to develop. There is however a huge low grade deposit that IMO is the most interesting long term opportunity. High grade is nice but if its volume is spotty then give me the low grade bulk tonnage. But the sector is currently extremely negative on low grade high bulk tonnage projects -- I doubt ABX will be knocking any time soon for another round of that poison...
It sounds to me like the author has a serious problem with the PVG CEO which IMO is biasing this article (I won't call anything in that link you posted analysis since it clearly isn't).
Why Stratcona bailed is more interesting. Court proceedings may yield interesting expert statements. Still it goes back to the very nature of nuggety deposits. A classic example is the Campbell / Red Lake mine currently operated by Goldcorp. The mine has seldom had more than 5M oz of reserve yet has produced much more than 20M oz of gold over the last 50 years. And btw it still has 3.2M reserves and an additional 2.3M oz M+I and 1.6M oz Inferred. Not bad for a nuggety deposit that started out at 1M oz or less.
Combine the Seabridge KSM resources with the PVG deposits and you probably have the largest undeveloped gold deposit in the world. I remember there were a lot of negative comments about Seabridge resource estimates over the years, yet KSM continues to grown and has recently hit some high grade intercepts.
Finally the North West Transmission line is going to provide power to within 20miles of the potential mine location.
Very interesting puzzle that will fly hugely when the current gold bear market comes to an end. When the bear is clearly ended, I will be very interested in both SEA and PVG, especially when we see gold past 2K or even past 3K which IMO will happen this decade easily and possibly even next year. But until then, not one penny into gold equities.
