RE:WD LatimerHi. They are most likely buying the odd number of shares to make a full lot in their hands or in someone's account. Due to past consolidations (i.e. 1 new share for every 7 old) people end up with odd lots and the broker will sell them the odd amount of shares to be able to transact the full lot. One or two brokers specialize in buying odd lots from others and accumulate the odd lot shares until they in turn have a board lot. Hope this helps.
