Northeast Observer - Northeast demand expected to hit winter high Dec. 12
Northeast demand is expected to increase to 31.2 Bcf/d on Dec. 12 followed by 32.0 Bcf/d on Dec. 16 as temperatures are expected to fall 15 degrees below normal on both days. These high demand levels would lead to the highest December demand levels month-to-date since Bentek began measuring Northeast demand in 2005. Northeast demand so far this month has averaged 21.4 Bcf/d, surpassing the previous high of 24.2 Bcf/d set in December 2010. New York LDC deliveries are expected to increase from 5.1 Bcf on Dec. 11 to 5.4 Bcf on Dec. 12 as temperatures in the area are expected to fall to 16 degrees below normal. The strong surge in New York demand will likely lead to the largest delivery to the TETCO’s ConEd Manhattan delivery point, surpassing the 442 MMcf/d reached on Nov. 24. The strong increase in NJ-NY demand will continue to boost Transco Z6 NY and non-NY cash basis up from weekly highs on Dec. 10 of $0.78 and $0.70.less
