Gravity methods recover the gold that exists as "pure" gold and is typically melted at site into 800-1000 ounce bars prior to shipping for further refining. I would expect the silver to be the major contaminant with the bars being perhaps 60-80% gold. All gold mines pull off as much gravity gold as they can before further processing. Unless cyanide is then used, all other methods recover the gold as a concentrate. Typically the gold is tied up with arsenic or other minerals that makes the gold irrecoverable by either gravity or cyanide. The major downside here is that the con typically only assays 4-8 ounces per ton. So yes you've eliminated 90% of the waste but the con has to be shipped to a specialist smelter....... the nearest I am aware of is in Nevada, so you get all the extra trucking costs , and typically the smelter only pays for something like 80% of the contained gold,
