RE:BB's patent portfolio 14th most valuable in the world
That valuation seems very much at odds with today's massive writedown of their intellectual property.  That took me aback.  I guess the fact no one wanted to buy them at $9 per share forced their hand and required them to take an impairment.

Today's realease was a "throw out everything including the kitchen sink".  Look at that inventory number, all the way down to ~$250M only.

I like the cash balance and the anticipation it will be maintained.  I like the 30,000 commercial + test server number.  I like the BBM penetration of 40M users on iOS and Android.  Most importantly, I like the outsourcing of the devices business to Foxconn.  Blackberry continues designing and performing quality assurance, but Foxconn manages inventory and builds the devices more efficiently.  It's still probably too late for BB10, but at least now they can compete better on cost and devices won't be as much of a money drain on the other profitable parts of their business.

All that said, their balance sheet looks a lot less appetizing at the moment.  Surprised the stock is up to be honest.  That was an epic writedown.
