Bentek Supply/Demand Balance Analytic Report -Jan6
Supply/Demand Balance Analytic Report - Demand hits record high of 127 Bcf/d
Total demand has reached 126.7 Bcf/d in Monday's evening cycle, topping the previous record of 122.9 Bcf/d set on Jan. 16, 2009. The 8.0 Bcf/d increase in demand over the weekend can be attributed to a 7.1-Bcf/d uptick in Midwest res/comm as frigid weather blankets much of the Midwest. The jump spurred total Midwest demand to 44.0 Bcf/d, helping to top the old Midwest demand record of 41.2 Bcf/d. Additionally, total industrial demand topped 23 Bcf/d for only the second time since Jan. 1, 2005, while US res/comm demand climbed to more than 72.8 Bcf/d for the third time. Total demand is slated to rise even more on Tuesday as the arctic weather expands eastward,  boosting Northeast demand while sustaining strong Midwest demand.less
