Improvement of anti-tumor immunity by blocking CD47 on tumor cells to signal-regulatory protein-α (SIRPα) on phagocytes. CD47 serves as a “don't eat me” signal, which prevents phagocytosis by signaling through the phagocyte receptor SIRPα. Blocking CD47 may accelerate clearance of tumor cells by phagocytes.
