Wishful Thinking?
Wishful Thinking? This may be wishful thinking on my part, however, based on the recent trading of the preferreds, I'm inclined to think that the dividend on the common shares won't be eliminated. If they cut the dividend on the common shares then they could cut the dividend on the prefs (though they are cumulative and theoretically would have to be paid in full, before restarting paying anything to the common).
Though, it was painful to average down, I did buy more of the pref b series, at year end tax selling. My reasoning (rightly/wrongly?) was that the company wouldn't hit the wall in 2014. That they would want to keep paying something to the common shares. True, I don't like betting on the abilities of bad management.
My disclosure: I own debs that mature this year. I own the pref b shares.
