Kurdistan Region Presidency Chief of Staff, Fuad Hussein, said in a statement that President Masoud Barzani along with a KRG delegation began a visit to a number of European countries on Wednesday.
 
As part of the tour, President Barzani visited Austria, where he met with Heinz Fischer, President of Austria, in the Presidential Palace in Vienna.
Following the meeting, the two presidents attended a press conference, where the topics of the meeting were discussed with the media.
 
The Kurdish President told reporters: ?Before becoming the President of Austria, Heinz Fischer was our friend. We have been friends for more than 30 year now, so our visit is that of a friend visiting a friend.?
 
Barzani also added that the meeting was very friendly and that they discussed several important topics regarding the situation in the region and the world.
Talking about the issues between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad, the Kurdish President said that both parties are now busy with talks to solve the issues, and that he hopes they can reach solutions to the problems through dialogue.

 
For his part, President Fischer welcomed his Kurdish counterpart and the accompanying delegation and expressed his happiness about their meeting.
Fuad Hussein said the President is scheduled to meet a number of world leaders and officials.
He will also be attending the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, where he is due to meet several leaders and attend a number of sessions on economic and political developments in Kurdistan, Iraq and the wider region.
 
The Kurdistan Region Presidency Chief of Staff Fuad Hussein, KRG Natural Resources Minister Ashti Hawrami, and KRG Head of Foreign Relations Department Falah Mustafa are accompanying the President on this visit.
 
Kurdish President is also expected to visit the United States of Americal following his Europe tour and meet with a number of high-ranking government officials and attend a number of events.
