Midcon Observer - Midcon to experience 4-day span of elevated demand
Today marks the beginning of a 4-day stretch of elevated demand across the Midcontinent region as average temperatures are expected to hover 14.0 and 5.9 degrees below normal in the Midwest and Midcon respectively, which will push total demand to roughly 32.8 Bcf/d during the time period.  The boost in demand follows an 11-day period of relatively weak demand that averaged slightly more than 20.0 Bcf/d.  Though the rise in demand will not approach the record-breaking levels experienced earlier this month, the uptick will likely continue to strain Midwest storage inventories, which Bentek estimates are at 564 Bcf, or 104 Bcf below the previous 5-year average.  Additionally, regional cash basis such as Chicago will likely experience upward pressure throughout the week before demand and temperatures begin to normalize over the coming weekend.less
