Maliki: we are close to an agreement with Kurdistan Region Maliki: we are close to an agreement with Kurdistan Region
The Prime Minister of Iraq, Nuri al-Maliki, recently revealed that his government and the Kurdistan Region are close to an agreement regarding oil.
Maliki published a weekly report on the government’s official website in which he discussed the relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Federal Government.
The report reveals that the Federal Government is close to an agreement with the Kurdistan Region regarding both the exportation of oil and Kurdistan’s budget.
“The agreement will soon be signed between the ministry of oil and the Kurdistan Region, this will help to approve the 2014 budget soon,” explained Maliki.
Maliki also pointed out that all ministries will start to function efficiently once the Iraqi Parliament investigates the draft law of the 2014 budget in order for it to be approved.
He also requested that the Ministry of Oil, the Kurdistan Region and the Iraqi Parliament work together and reach an agreement soon in order to approve the 2014 Iraq budget “so that the process of construction will include all of Iraq, not only one region.”
