Case in point Schmid comments:
“The old dredges worked the river bottom from what amounts to a boat with a sluice box. This is very hard on the fish and other wildlife so I am sure I heard it explained UBR would be using cofferdams to seal of portions. The dredges deposit tailings on the riverbank to reduce the harm to wildlife. That is why it was easy for them to get at the tailings for their brief trial mining exercise. Bering Sea gold had a crude example with them putting a land hoe top, above the swivel, on a barge with sluice boxes. “
That is a myth in my book….
From my understanding, the dredge did not work in the river, but on land, on what the Beauce Placer believed was the old buried river, and they create artificial ponds to use the dredge…
UBR plans, from my understanding is to mine dry the auriferous zone like a simple open pit mine since the deposit is not in the river….
But until we get the report we are both speculating….
