Bentek synoposis for U.S. Midcon wed & Thurs
Midcon Observer - Cold snap to provide strong upward pressure on cash prices and inflows
Midcon demand is expected to rise roughly 3.0 Bcf/d on Wednesday as a cold snap settles over a majority of the producing region and takes aim for the market area. The cold weather is anticipated to push average temperatures in the producing region to roughly 25 degrees below normal. As a result, various Midcon producing price hubs including NGPL-Midcon and ANR-OK rose more than $2.00 for Wednesday's flow date, while Midwest hubs increased by roughly $1.00. The peak demand day from this event is anticipated to occur Thursday when the brunt of the storm arrives in the Midwest, pushing average temperatures for most of the region below zero. Consequently, cash prices such as Ventura and Chicago could see strong upward pressure in Wednesday's trading, which will likely incentivize continuously increasing inflows from surrounding areas, especially Canada, through the end of the week.less
