RE:from the CES 2014

RE:from the CES 2014 The QNX job post makes sense if it has something to do with this. It does mention QNX car and Intrinsyc seems to be very tight with Qualcomm these days. I wonder if there is more news to come. QNX and Qualcomm Announce First In-car Infotainment System Powered by Snapdragon Automotive Solutions Companies demonstrate powerful in-vehicle graphics, video, and wireless capabilities at 2014 CES LAS VEGAS, 2014 International CES (North Hall, Booth 536), January 7, 2014 — QNX Software Systems Limited, a global leader in software platforms for in-car electronics, and Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM), through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., today announced that the companies will implement support for the high-performance video and graphics capabilities of Snapdragon™ Automotive Solutions in the QNX CAR™ Platform for Infotainment, a comprehensive, standards-based solution for building connected infotainment systems. This is the first automotive implementation of the complete Snapdragon Automotive Solutions and it will be demonstrated in the QNX® reference vehicle, a specially modified Jeep Wrangler, at the 2014 International CES, January 7-10, Las Vegas Convention Center, North Hall, Booth 536. Snapdragon Automotive Solutions include the Qualcomm® Snapdragon 602A applications processor with support for high-resolution, sophisticated graphics and HMIs, facial, gesture and voice recognition, high-quality audio processing and image stitching, and multiple HD displays and cameras. Qualcomm Gobi™ 3G/4G LTE modems bring industry standard multimode cellular connectivity, and Qualcomm VIVE adds leading edge in-car Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® connectivity. The powerful combination enables the next generation of connected infotainment experiences from complex user applications to enhanced 3D navigation to rear-seat 3D gaming. In the QNX reference vehicle at CES, the Snapdragon Automotive Solutions will power a digital instrument cluster and a multimedia head unit based on the QNX CAR Platform for Infotainment; the head unit applications include advanced 3D maps, natural speech recognition, geolocation, over-the-air (OTA) software updates, and cloud-based vehicle data analytics. “With Qualcomm Technologies’ expertise in mobile communications and applications processors, and QNX Software Systems’ broad support for mobile application environments, including Android, OpenGL ES, and HTML5, we can help automotive OEMs implement a rich variety of apps from the mobile space across their model lines — offering their end-customers a revolution in connected infotainment features and experiences,” said Nakul Duggal, Vice President of Product Management for Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “We’re excited to work with Qualcomm Technologies on their entry into the automotive infotainment market,” said Derek Kuhn, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, QNX Software Systems. “With its high degree of integration, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 602A processor can help automotive companies realize significant cost savings, as well as leverage the rich graphics and HMI capabilities of the QNX CAR Platform for Infotainment.” QNX Software Systems has licensed its software technology for use in tens of millions of in-vehicle systems worldwide, including 3D navigation systems, multimedia head units, digital instrument clusters, connectivity modules, and hands-free systems. The company’s QNX CAR Platform for Infotainment offers a unique set of pre-integrated technologies to help reduce development efforts and speed time to market for connected, media-rich infotainment systems.
